This smooth and medium-bodied European-style chardonnay has floral scents of stonefruit, followed by mineral notes and a hint of pineapple. Lean flavors of melon and lime are followed by hints of peach, apricot, and pineapple. Aged in French and American oak for 12 months prior to bottling.

Sauvignon Blanc 2008 - Lake County - Broc Zoller Vineyards

 

This crisp sauvignon blanc begins with the smell of freshly sliced cantaloupe followed by crushed lemongrass. The flavor is distinct grapefruit melded with crisp citrus notes. Barrel fermented and aged in French and American oak for 12 months prior to bottling.

Sauvignon Blanc 2009 - Lake County - Broc Zoller Vineyards

 

This crisp sauvignon blanc begins with the smell of freshly sliced cantaloupe followed by crushed lemongrass. Flavors of bright citrus and distinct grapefruit transform into buttery melon on the palate.  Oak barrel fermented and sur lie aged in French oak for 11 months prior to bottling.  This wine was neither fined nor filtered which resulted in full flavors but some sediment in the bottom of each bottle.

Sauvignon Blanc 2009 - Amador County - John Bree Vineyards

 

Oak barrel fermented and aged on the gross lees for 8 months, this crisp, opalescent, and zesty sauvignon blanc has bold grapefruit and lime aromatics leading to tangy flavors of gooseberries, green apple, and honeydew melon.  This wine was neither fined nor filtered which resulted in full flavors but some sediment in the bottom of each bottle.

Rosés:

 

Rosé of Merlot 2008 - Mendocino County - Nunez Vineyards

 

This bright salmon-colored, fruity but dry, barrel-fermented wine was pressed from rich, dark merlot grapes. Subtle floral notes with hints of peach and strawberry evolve into crisp plum flavors followed by a nuance of pineapple. Aged in 100% neutral French oak for 12 months prior to bottling.

Afternoon Delight 2009 – Napa Rosé – Napa Valley

 

This bright, light red Rose’ wine is fruity but dry, and serves equally well in summer or winter.  Whatever the occasion, this Rose’ delights the senses with aromas of dried stone fruits and late summer flowers with flavors of strawberry, tart cherry, raspberry and crisp pomegranate.  Mild tannins lead to a fresh but firm finish.

Nebbiolo 2007 -  Lake County – Windrem Vineyards

 

This delightful, organically farmed Nebbiolo is light garnet in color with scents of strawberry, plum, cherry, and rosewood that lead to flavors of tart pie cherries, vanilla, rhubarb pie, and hibiscus flowers.  The tannins are bracing, but finish smoothly.  Barrel aged in French oak for 30 months.   Neither fined nor filtered.

Nebbiolo 2005 (Available only from the winery) (2011 – NY Gold Medal) - Amador – J. Bree Vineyards

 

The Nebbiolo grape has been called the pinot noir of Italy.  This truly elegant wine has subtle aromas of cocoa and blackberry brambles. The rich and earthy flavors of black cherry and dark chocolate resonate on the palate with smooth tannins. Aged for 29 months in French oak, this wine like a fine Barolo, will continue to develop complexity and finesse through additional bottle aging.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Sangiovese – 2006 - Amador County – Shenandoah Mine Ranch

 

This lighter-bodied red wine has scents of hibiscus blossom, pie cherry, and assorted spices and was aged in two French oak barrels for 36 months.  Flavors of cherries, vanilla, and cinnamon are followed by balanced and subtle tannins.           Neither fined nor filtered.

Wish Upon a Star – 2007 a Super Tuscan (2011 – CA Gold Medal) - Amador - John Bree Vineyards

 

A rich and hearty blend of Sangiovese (53%), Cabernet Franc (19%) Cabernet Sauvignon (19%), and Aglianico (9%), with black cherry and anise aromas and full flavors of dark cherry and spicewood.  Barrel aged in French oak for 34 months.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Barbera – 2007 - Amador County – Shenandoah Mine Ranch

 

This medium-bodied Barbera is food-friendly with adequate acidity for pairing with traditional tomato and mushroom-based sauces, grilled meats, and risottos.  With subtle aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate, and cigar leaf, this wine has flavors of pie cherries, licorice, and cranberries.  Aged 22 months in French and American oak.

Cabernet Franc – 2005 (2010 NY Silver Medal) - Amador County – John Bree Vineyards

Cabernet Sauvignon - 2006 - Amador County – John Bree Vineyards 

 

 Dusty black cherry, maple, and clove aromatics flesh into tastes of cedar and oak, tobacco, sage, and black licorice.  The acids and tannins are smooth and balanced and contribute to a memorable and extended finish.  Barrel aged in French and American oak for 43 months.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Cabernet Sauvignon – 2007 (2010 NY Silver Medal) – Dry Creek Valley - Sonoma – Bedford Ranch  

 

 Rich and creamy caramel, strawberry, and black cherry aromatics evolve into flavors of anise, blackberry, and

cherry licorice with notably smooth tannins.   Barrel aged in French oak for 30 months.

Dark As Night – 2007 - A Bordeaux-style Red Wine – (2011 CA Gold Medal)

 

A well balanced and smooth blend of Mendocino Merlot (47%),  Amador County Cabernet Franc (41%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), with 2% Lake County Petit Verdot.  Earthy black oak, orange-spiced plum, and cardamom aromas evolve on the palate into rich flavors of cedar, black tea, cranberry and cocoa bean.  Aged in French oak for 34 months.  Neither fined nor filtered..

Merlot - 2006 - (2010 – NY Silver Medal) - Mendocino County - Nunez Vineyards

 

This merlot is complex and multi-layered.  Black cherry and sarsaparilla aromatics evolve into smooth flavors of black cherry gently folded together with vanilla, a whisper of marzipan, and sprinkled with a touch of white pepper.  Aged in French oak barrels for 35 months.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Elysian Fields – 2004 –Amador County - Sutter Creek Vineyards

 

The Greeks brought the noble Aglianico grapes to Southern Italy some 2,500 years ago.  This blend of Aglianico (86%) and Sangiovese (14%) resulted in a robust wine having earthy scents of blackberry brambles and crème broule with flavors of black cherry, coffee, and dark chocolate.  The lingering finish is long and peppery with cedar wood spice. Barrel aged 30 months.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Petit Verdot – 2007 - (Available only from the winery) – Lake County – Quercus Ranch

 

This Petit Verdot offers a cornucopia of aromas, flavors and textures.  Velvety smooth in the mouth, inky purple in color, the nose speaks of violets and caramel, cassis, white pepper and sweet tobacco.  Luscious flavors of crème brulee, caramel, strawberries and spicy pie cherries linger long on the palate.  Aged in French oak for 30 months.

Carignane 2007 - Mendocino Co. - German Vineyards

 

Dried cranberries, maple, and incense cedar aromatics fill the nose from this old vine carignane. For taste, flavors of cinnamon spiced pie cherries with a hint of violet are layered between satiny smooth tannins. Aged in French oak for 32 months prior to bottling. Neither fined nor filtered.

Serenity - 2007 - A Rhone-style California Red wine - (2011 CA Silver Medal)

 

A blend of Mendocino Syrah (27%), Petite Sirah (46%) and Carignane (27%).  Individually aged for 34 months in French and American oak, this blend of wines is complex but balanced.  Aromatics of pipe tobacco, leather, anise, and dark berries evolve into flavors of rick blackberry pie and licorice, with a hint of black pepper.

Mourvedre 2008 - (2011 – CA Gold Medal) - Amador Co. - John Bree Vineyards

 

Deeply layered aromatics and highly concentrated flavors are best revealed after decanting this intense red wine.  Violets and honeysuckle, black cherry and freshly sliced pomegranate aromas translate into earthy flavors of dark plum and ripe blackberries, black truffle, and cocoa ending with a smooth finish.  Barrel aged in French oak for 20 months.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Syrah – 2006 - Alexander Valley (Dry Creek hilltop grown)

 

The alluring scent of this syrah is multifaceted and encompasses violets, blackberry jam, smoky roasted fig, blueberries and graphite.  Flavors of bittersweet dark chocolate, tart currants, and sweet tobacco leaf satiate the palate.  Barrel aged in French oak for 45 months. Zinfandel – 2007 - Amador County – Shenandoah Mine Ranch

 

This Zinfandel is spicy and delicious with  pleasing aromas of chocolate covered cherries, vanilla, hints of raspberries, leather and black tea.  The bright acidity emphasizes the innate flavors of black cherries and sweet pipe tobacco, followed by tart cranberries.  Barrel aged for 29 months in French oak. Neither fined nor filtered.

Old Vine Zinfandel – 2007 - Mendocino Co. – Wally `German Vineyards

 

Chosen from vines planted in 1968, these Zinfandel grapes have evolved into a velvety smooth and flavorful red wine using traditional-style wine making techniques. Complex and well balanced, there are aromatics of vanilla, caramel, and cherries jubilee.  The flavors of licorice and sarsaparilla are followed by a touch of apricot ending in a peppery finish. Barrel aged for 31 months in French oak. Neither fined nor filtered.

Souzao Port – 2006 - Amador County – Sutter Creek Vineyards

 

Selected from grapes grown near the Sierra Nevada, this souzao port resonates with an abundance of flavors.  Inky garnet in color and medium dry in sweetness, this desert wine is rich with flavors of chocolate, dark berries, and almonds.  The finish is a bit spicy with hints of toasted oak.  Neither fined nor filtered. (Driest of the ports.)

Zinfandel Port - 2002 - Mendocino Co. – Bartolomei Brothers Vineyards

 

A longer time on the vines and in the barrel afforded this zinfandel a very wide spectrum of flavors.  Silky smooth in the mouth with just a hint of pepper, somewhat tawny in color, the nose speaks of maple and caramel, amaretto and autumn spices.  Jammy flavors of cherries jubilee, vanilla and maple syrup linger long on the palate.  Barrel aged in American oak for 93 months.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Zinfandel Port - 2005 – (2011 NY Silver Medal) - Dry Creek Valley – Messick Vineyards

 

This fleshy and supple port is moderately sweet and silky smooth.  Subtle aromas of cherry vanilla, and raspberry spice transform on the palate into seductive flavors of cherry tobacco, maple and cocoa powder.  The flavors linger long like a fond memory.  Barrel aged for 56 months in French Oak.  Neither fined nor filtered.

PetiteSirah/Zinfandel Port - 2006     Dry Creek Valley - Messick Vineyards

 

 

This port is a combination of hillside-grown Petite Sirah (65%) and Zinfandel (35%) grapes.  Barrel aged for 33 months in neutral French oak, this port has aromas of vanilla, black cherry, and licorice, is moderate in sweetness and has flavors of dark chocolate with a hint of orange zest.
