Toasted brioche and lemon curd aromas entice the olfactory senses.  Entry on the pallet suggest sliced honeydew melon, stonefruit and lemon oil.  The finish is full, flavorful and very persistent with crisp, balanced acidity.  This is an excellent wine to pair with Pecorino Romano cheese and olive oil dressed arugula salad.  Stainless steel fermented and aged 10 months.

Pairing well with Dungeness crab in a burre’ blanc sauce, this delightful white wine exudes lemon blossom, lychee nut and sunbaked straw aromas with ephemeral flavors of honeysuckle, brioche and lemon tart balanced by a bright acidity.  Stainless steel fermented and aged for 9 months prior to bottling.   Fined and filtered.

Foregt Me Not,… – 2013                                                                  North Coast

(a White Wine Blend of Grenache Blanc, Picpoul Blanc and Viognier)                      

This perfectly synchronous blend of three white grape wines resulted in a wonderfully aromatic, crisp and tasty libation.  Aromas of candied mango and ginger, night jasmine, geranium and sultana raisins evolve into flavors of green pineapple, honeydew melon, mangosteen and custard apple.   Stainless steel and French oak aged for 16 months before bottling.

Grenache Blanc/ Picpoul Blanc – 2013                                          Sonoma Valley

This This 50/50 blend of Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc has a tropical fruit nose reminiscent of pineapple, mango, hints of vanilla custard, and quince with a touch of nutmeg.  Flavors suggest citrus, cream sickle, candied grapefruit, yellow apple, vanilla and quince.   Stainless steel barrel aged for 16 months prior to bottling.

The aromas of this sweeter Riesling suggest citrus blossoms and tropical fruit.  Neutral French oak fermented and aged, the resulting mouthfeel is full and has a nice weight balanced by an appropriate level of acidity.   Would be well paired with spicy Asian food and crème brûlée.

Afternoon Delight – 2014    Rose’ of Syrah      Mendocino County – Schrader Ranch

 This This bright, salmon-colored Syrah Rose’ wine is fruity but dry, and serves equally well in summer or winter.  Whatever the occasion, this Rose’ delights the senses with aromas of dried stone fruits and strawberry shortcake with flavors of strawberry, tart cherry, raspberry and pomegranate.  Mild tannins lead to a fresh but firm finish.

Called the pinot noir of Italy, this truly elegant wine has subtle aromas of blackberry brambles, tar and heritage roses.  The rich hearty flavors of pie cherries with hints of dried figs and star anise are embraced by smooth tannins which also caress the palate.  Barrel aged for 33 months in French oak, this wine like a fine Barolo, will continue to develop complexity and finesse through additional bottle aging.

The Temptation of Angels – 2011                                  A California Red Wine

Individually barrel aged for 21 months prior to bottling Lake County Grenache (50%), Amador County Mourvedre (33%) and Petite Sirah (17%) were blended to create this wonderfully aromatic and tasty red wine.  This wine has tantalizing aromas of violets, cranberries, cigar box and a pinch of nutmeg, which become flavors of dried cranberries, cherries jubilee, and subtle vanilla bean.  This wine was neither fined nor filtered.

Dry and medium-bodied, this blending of Lake County Tempranillo (57%), Amador County Grenache (12%) and Mourvedre (11%), together with Mendocino County Merlot (10%) and Carignane (10%) resulted in a wine with a cornucopia of rich flavors.  Aromas of tart red cherry, black truffle, and tobacco leaf with a hint of sandlewood become flavors of chewy rich tart cherry and dark plum, a hint of leather and a pinch of clove.  Barrel aged in French oak for 21 months.  This wine was neither fined nor filtered.

Wish Upon A Star – 2011 - A Super Tuscan Style Red Wine     Amador County -  John Bree Vineyards.

A rich and hearty blend of Sangiovese (55%), Cabernet Franc (22%), Cabernet Sauvignon (22%), and Aglianico (1%), with aromas of baked red apple, baked plums, cherry liquor, menthol, iodine, iron, black plum, wet tobacco leaf, vanilla and brown sugar.  Bold flavors of cherry cordial, black berry, plum, baked apple with a chalky minerality finish.  Barrel aged in French oak for 23 months.

Dusty black cherry, maple and clove aromatics flesh in to flavors of cedar and oak, tobacco, sage and black licorice.  The acids and tannins are smooth and balanced and contribute to a memorable and extended finish.  Barrel aged for 31 months in French oak.

Cabernet Sauvignon – 2006Dry Creek Valley, Hanks Fowble Vineyard (2012 NY Gold)                (Available only from winery/tasting room).              

Low production head-pruned vines gave this very sophisticated wine an amazing complexity that will continue to develop for many years to come.  Earthy black cherry, tobacco, anise and leather aromatics transform into flavors of jammy licorice and sage, cranberry, cedar and mineral.  Woodsy tannins result in a protracted dry, cherry finish.  Barrel aged in French oak for 42 months.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this fine wine will be donated to prostate and breast cancer research in honor of oncologists Gerald Hanks, MD and Barbara Fowble, MD.

This smooth and well balanced Bordeaux-style blend consists of 30% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 30%  Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.  The aromatics of the fruit burst forth with black plum, black berry, boysenberry, mulberry, black sage, and ceonothus, while the flavors speak of dark cherry, black plum, and dried leather with firm tannins and balanced acidity.  Barrel aged in French oak for 19 months prior to bottling.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Dark As Night – 2009                                   A Bordeaux style California Red Wine

A well balanced and smooth blend of Mendocino County Merlot (46%), together with Amador County Cabernet Franc (39%), Cabernet Sauvignon (12%) and 3% Petit Verdot.  Cedar box, orange-spiced plum, tobacco leaf and cardamom aromas evolve on the palate into rich flavors of black currant, cherry, savory herbs, and anise.  The acidity and tannins are in perfect balance after being aged for 33 months in French oak.  This wine was neither fined nor filtered.

This Petit Verdot offers a cornucopia of aromas, flavors, and textures.  Velvety smooth in the mouth, inky purple in color, the nose speaks of violets, dried rose petals, and a hint of vanilla.  Luscious flavors of dark black cherry, pomegranate and caramel linger long on the palate.  Barrel aged 19 months in French oak barrels. Elysian Fields – 2007                                 Amador Co. – John Bree Vineyards. 

The Greeks brought the noble Aglianico grapes to Southern Italy some 2,500 years ago.  This blend of Aglianico (86%) and Sangiovese (14%) resulted in a robust wine having earthy scents of blackberry brambles and crème broule with flavors of black cherry, coffee, and dark chocolate.  The lingering finish is long and peppery with cedar wood spice. Barrel aged 31 months.

A delightful blend of 46% Fresia and 54% Dolcetto, these wines were individually barrel aged in French oak for 21 months prior to blending and bottling.  Tantalizing aromas of nutmeg, caramel, dried bing cherry and dark plum become flavorful juicy dark fruit, tobacco leaf and allspice with a persistent spicy finish.  Pairs well with grilled vegetables and lamb and an assortment of cured meats.

Carignane – 2014                           Mendocino County – Hidden Hawk Ranch        

This old vine Carignane was planted in 1942. With this older age of vine the resulting wine has greater complexity.  Aromas and flavors of dark plum and blueberry preserves, baked apple, allspice, tar and graphite linger long on the palate with velvety tannins.  Barrel aged in French oak for 8 months prior to bottling.  Neither fined nor filtered.

Serenity – 2009                                           A Rhone-style California Red wine          

A blend of Mendocino Carignane (27%), Syrah (27%) and Petite Sirah (46%).  Individually aged for 34 months in French and American oak, this blend of wines is complex but balanced.  Aromatics of leather, cedar wood, dark berries, and hint of wild truffle evolve into flavors of rick blackberry pie, licorice, with a hint of black pepper.

This 50/50 co-fermented blend of Grenache and Syrah has aromas of dark plum, blackberry, olallieberry, coco nibs, and dried mushrooms with a hint of tar, leather and purple iris.   The boysenberry and dark plum flavors also speak of dried meats, dried cherries, leading to a long finish with chalky tannins.  Barrel aged in French oak for 20 months and neither fined nor filtered.

Old Vine Zinfandel – 2009       Mendocino Co. – German Vineyard(2013 NY Silver)

Chosen from vines planted in 1958, and using traditional-style wine making techniques, these Zinfandel grapes have evolved into a spicy, but smooth and flavorful wine.  Complex and well balanced, with aromatics of vanilla, caramel and cherries jubilee, the flavors of licorice and sarsaparilla are followed by a touch of apricot ending in a peppery finish.  This wine was barrel aged 32 months in French oak barrels and was neither fined nor filtered.

Chosen from grapes grown in the Sierra Nevada, this Souzao port resonates with an abundance of flavors.  Inky garnet in color and medium dry in sweetness, this dessert wine has subtle aromas of dark cherry, caramel, vanilla, and licorice.  Rich flavors of chocolate, dark berries and almonds end with a hint of toasted oak and a spicy finish.

Port – NV                                          California                     

This is a blend of six different and unique varieties of rich, complex vinifera grapes that were co-fermented and aged in neutral French oak for 43 months.  The result is a wonderfully complex and supple dessert wine.  With beautifully bright and lifted aromas of baked apple, stewed plum, vanilla bean, salted caramel, candied pecans, and sultana raisins, this medium sweet port has flavors of candied pecans, baked spiced apple, browned butter, and dried cherries.

This is a blend of five different and unique Portuguese grape varieties that were co-fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels which resulted in this wonderfully rich and supple dessert wine.  With bright cherry, honeysuckle and vanilla aromas this medium sweet and ruby red port has flavors of ripe wild strawberries, bing cherries and vanilla crème pie.
