Carignane 2015 ~ Hidden Hawk Ranch, Mendocino County 

This old vine Carignane was planted in 1942. With this older age of vine, the resulting wine has greater complexity.  Aromas and flavors of dark plum and blueberry preserves, baked apple, allspice, tar and graphite linger long on the palate with velvety tannins.  Barrel aged 32 months prior to bottling. Barbera 2017 ~ Testa Vineyards, Mendocino County 

This medium-bodied Barbera is food friendly with adequate acidity for pairing with traditional tomato and mushroom-based sauce, grilled meats, and risottos. With subtle aromas of dark cherry and cassis, this wine has flavors of pomegranate, black cherry, and anise and finishes with a hint of crushed black pepper. This wine was barrel aged for 14 months in neutral French oak. This wine was neither fined nor filtered.

This elegant, terroir driven Pinot Noir, expresses notes of fresh cherry, orange zest and raspberry, together with the rich aromas of moist forest floor and sunstruck wild berry brambles. Dry and medium bodied, this blending of Lake County Tempranillo (59%), Grenache (27%), and Mendocino County Carignane (14%) resulted in a wine with a cornucopia of rich flavors. Aromas of tart red cherry, black truffle, and tobacco leaf with a hint of sandalwood become flavors of chewy rich tart cherry and plum, a hint of leather and a pinch of clove. This medium weight Cabernet Franc blossoms with a floral whiff of lavender and roses, white pepper, paprika, sweet cream, and Amarena cherries. This sumptuous expression of Cabernet Franc is smooth and well balanced and is deep dark in color with tones of garnet and ruby. The aromas of fresh roses and carnations are enhanced by hints of pestled whole peppercorns, bay leaf and sage. Rich flavors of slightly macerated black berries, cherries, plums and figs follow. Picking the best of the best Cabernet Sauvignon from three different vineyards (Mendocino County 75%, Lake County 25%) resulted in this beautiful, deeply structured and complex wine. Deep garnet-ruby colored with aromas of briar patch and mossy stone walls. Wafting scents of cinnamon, chocolate and pipe tobacco prevail. Flavors of black and red cherries, black currant and raspberry, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove are all nicely balanced and finish with velvety smooth tannins.

This complex, multi-layered red wine is a blend of 38% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12% Petit Verdot. With a nose of violets, black cherry, dark currants and pipe tobacco resulting flavors develop suggesting tart cherry, caramel, and spiced plum, finishing with a hint of forest floor and orange zest. The greeks took the noble Aglianico grape to Southern Italy some 2,500 years ago. This blend of Aglianico (89%) and Sangiovese (11%) results in a robust wine with earthy scents of blackberry brambles and crème brûlée with flavors of black cherry, coffee and dark chocolate. The Lingering cedar wood spice finish is long and peppery. Barrel aged in French oak for 32 months. Neither fined no filtered.

Sourced from vineyards in Amador (29%) and Lake (71%) Counties, this Petit Verdot offers a cornucopia of aromas, flavors, and textures. Velvety smooth in the mouth, inky purple in color, the nose speaks of blackberry bramble, purple iris, graphite and cedar, dried ginger and menthol. A delightful blend of 50% Fresia and 50% Dolcetto, these wines were individually barrel aged in French oak barrels for 18 months prior to blending and bottling. Tantalizing aromas of nutmeg, caramel, dried bing cherry and dark plum become flavorful juicy dark fruit, tobacco leaf and allspice with a persistent spicy finish. Pairs well with grilled vegetables and lamb and an assortment of cured meats.

This blend of Carignane (60%), Petite Sirah (22%), Primitivo (11%), and Merlot (7%), is a mouthwatering example of elegance in simplicity. Temptation of Angels 2012 ~ a California Red Wine. Amador County, John Bree Vineyards 

Individually barrel aged in French oak for 20 months prior to bottling this blend of Grenache (43%), Syrah (28%), and Mouvedre (29%) is an incredibly complex, aromatic and tasty. Bright red fruits of cherry, cranberry and pomegranate take on a slightly baked, cherries jubilee quality that is supported by spicy and floral notes of violets, roses, lavender and coarsely ground pink and black peppercorns. Old Vine Mourvèdre 2014 ~ Russian River Valley, Montgomery Vineyards     

This old vine Mourvedre was planted in 1942. Grapes produced from the low production older vine resulted in wine with much greater complexity than would a younger vine in the same location. The result: Aromas of cocoa powder, dark cherry and forest floor transform on the palate into chocolate covered cherries, sarsaparilla, caramel and cedar with a velvety tannin finish.
